Quarantine
quarantine and isolation
Positive Corona case - what now? Here you can find information on quarantine orders and contact tracing.
Current notice:
The isolation requirement for persons infected with SARS-CoV-2 was lifted in Brandenburg on February 13, 2023. The Ministry of Health has issued an instruction to the districts and independent cities to lift their respective general orders on the “isolation of suspected persons and persons who have tested positive for the coronavirus” accordingly.
This means that people who have tested positive for the coronavirus no longer have to isolate themselves at home. As with all other infectious diseases, every person infected with the coronavirus should then isolate themselves on their own responsibility.
Despite the abolition of the isolation requirement, all citizens are still called upon to follow the well-known AHA L rules of conduct in order to protect themselves and others from infections. This means keeping your distance, observing hygiene, wearing a mask in everyday life and ventilating regularly. If you suspect you have been infected with the coronavirus, you should avoid contact and get tested.
general decrees of the districts and independent cities
In Germany, the ordering of quarantine is regulated by the Infection Protection Act (IfSG) and is carried out by the responsible authority, in Brandenburg by the local health authority.
The health department assesses the risk of infection and thus orders quarantine in individual cases. To simplify implementation, a district or independent city can also issue a general order with basic requirements for ordering quarantine for close contacts, suspected persons and people who have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Corona citizen testing in Brandenburg
The nationwide requirement to present proof of a test when entering hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, as well as full- and part-time care facilities and similar facilities was completely suspended as of March 1, 2023. Since then, there have been no more entitlements to free COVID-19 tests.
The rapid corona tests are offered, for example, in test centers and many pharmacies as well as individual drugstores and shopping centers.
Information on tests for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2
Testing for an acute infection with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 helps to break chains of transmission and contain the coronavirus. PCR tests, antigen tests and antigen self-tests are available.
National testing strategy: The National Testing Strategy determines when testing for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 should be carried out as part of the national pandemic response. It also contains recommendations on which test should be used as part of this testing strategy. Tests can also be carried out on one's own initiative.
Overview of test options
PCR test: The laboratory-based PCR test is considered the most reliable method for clarifying a suspected infection with SARS-CoV-2. The samples are taken by people who have the necessary training or knowledge and experience and who have been instructed in the medical device to be used. The samples are then evaluated by laboratories. The result is available after a few hours to days. PCR tests are also used to verify (confirm) a positive rapid or self-test.
PoC antigen rapid test: Antigen tests are rapid tests. They are carried out by trained personnel. Similar to the PCR test, a nasal and/or throat swab is taken. The evaluation takes place directly on site within 15 to 30 minutes. However, the result is not as reliable as with the PCR test.
Antigen self-test: The self-tests are intended for use by private individuals. Anyone can do self-tests themselves - even at home. The self-tests are intended for use by laypeople. The sample collection and analysis is correspondingly simple. The test can be carried out, for example, with a nasal swab (in the front of the nose) or with saliva. Please read the instructions for use before use. The test result is available after 15 to 30 minutes. However, the error rate is higher than with the PCR test.
Important: Rapid and self-tests have a higher error rate than PCR tests. Therefore, after every positive rapid and self-test, a PCR test should always be done to confirm the result.
